19 STATES FOR JUNIOR ROWING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, ARORA INAUGURATES

As many as 19 states are participating in the single-scull, double-scull, cox-less pairs and cox-less four events in the 43rd Junior Rowing National Championship being hosted by Chandigarh Rowing Association on behalf of Rowing Federation of India at the four-lane 1000 metres course of Sukhna Lake.

It may be noted that the 43rd Junior Rowing National has returned to Chandigarh after a gap of 23 years.

Chief guest Director of Sports UT Chandigarh Sprabh Kumar Arora inaugurated the championship. Guest of honour Joint Director Sports Dr. Sunil Rayat, DSP Shri P. Abhinandhan SDPO North East, Col Amrik Singh private secretary to President All India Council of Sports Govt. of India Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and NS Thakur of Chandigarh Olympic Association were present at the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile all necessary arrangements have been made to conduct the water sports junior rowing events at the lake, said Rajiv Sharma, organising secretary of the rowing discipline, adding '' the four-lane 1km course will see the cream of Junior rowers in action during the action-packed event.”
