A class-V student of Govt Primary School in Abohar’s Nanak Nagari has won a gold medal at the Punjab State School Games. Noor Kaur, daughter of a daily wage earning Jagga Singh, finished first in the 600-meter race in the state sports in the U-11 category.

School head Mamta Gilhotra, staff and students today gave a warm welcome to Noor as she returned to home town. Mamta said Noor worked hard under the guidance of Kamal Brar and Ritika Duggal.

The achievement once again indicates that the children of government schools were no less compared to private schools where daughters and sons of financially weak parents can’t afford to bear the expenses.
