SARDAR BHAGWANT SINGH MEMORIAL BASKETBALL TROPHY: U-17 BOYS, TEAM OF VHS, CHANDIGARH ENTERS SEMIS

The (U-17) boys team of Vivek High School, Chandigarh entered the semi-finals of the ongoing 9th Edition of Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy (BSMBT), defeating Yadavindra Public School, 50-26, in a quarterfinal match played on Thursday. Udesh fromVivek High School scored 20 points and was the top scorer for his team.

While competing in the same category, Vivek High School, Mohali, also qualified for the semi-finals, defeating Delhi Public School, Mohali, 53-17. Meanwhile, Saupins School, Chandigarh also made it to the semi-final by winning against Paragon School, Mohali, 41-12. Competing in the same category, Learning Paths School, Chandigarh defeated Strawberry School Chandigarh 28-9, thereby ensuring a berth in the semis.(SUBHEAD)   

Meanwhile, in the girls' (U-17) category, Sacred Heart School Chandigarh qualified for the final defeating Vivek High School, Mohali, 42-25. In another semi-final match, Vivek High School, Chandigarh successfully made it to the final by winning against Saupin’s School, Chandigarh, 22-8.

In the quarterfinal match of boys' (U-14) category, St. Josephs School defeated Yadavindra Public School Mohali, 40-29. While competing in the same category, Saupin’s School, Chandigarh registered a win over Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh, 38-33.

The total of eight (8) matches were played on day 5 of the tournament at Sports Complex , Sec 42, Chandigarh. 

Eight(8) matches were played at the basketball court of host's – Vivek High School, Mohali. Here, Learning Paths School, Mohali defeated Saupin’s School, Mohali in the boys' (U-14) category of the quarterfinal match, 32-18. Vivek High School, Mohali registered a convincing win over Amity International School, Mohali by a huge margin, 28-6.

Meanwhile, competing in the (U-14) girls' category, Vivek High School, Mohali qualified for the final defeating Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, Chandigarh, 23-6.

In the girls' (U-12) category Learning Paths School, Mohali humbled Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh, 24-4. While competing in the same category, Vivek High School, Mohali defeated Saupin’s School Chandigarh, 14-9.

Competing in the boys' (U-12) category, Vivek High School, Mohali entered the final of the tournament defeating Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh, 19-3. Meanwhile, Learning Paths School, Mohali also made its way into the final of the same category of the tournament by registering a win over YPS, Mohali. 

BSMBT which is an annual affair organised by Vivek High School, Mohali is the biggest inter-school basketball tourney of the tricity. The finals of the tourney shall be held over Oct 19 and 20. On Oct 20 a prize distribution ceremony will be held.
