For the first time, the birthday of a female inmate's son was celebrated in the Central Jail Sriganganagar, 40 km from Abohar. During this, Happy “Birthday to you Sukhdeep” echoed in the jail premises. Cake was cut and sweets were distributed to the inmates and staff, women prisoners participated with great enthusiasm.

About eleven months ago, Jaswinder Kaur was jailed under the NDPS Act. Then she had a one-month son Sukhdeep, he is now one year old.
Jail staff offered assistance to celebrate the child's birthday in the jail. Jail Superintendent allowed the celebration. Cake and sweets were arranged. Sukhdeep’s birthday was celebrated in the park located in front of the women's barrack, all women prisoners and jail staff participated in this program.
The child performed a cake cutting ceremony. After this, the jail superintendent fed the cake to the child. Earlier the preliminary rituals for the marriage of a woman prisoner were also performed in the jail.
