Secret information was received regarding online gambling on T-20 IPL Cricket match RCB Vs LSG by SI Prashant Sharma of Special Staff that a person namely Shammi Kumar Sahani is running a Cricket betting book at his house no. 19, Moti Ram Road, near Nutan Public School, Shahdara, Delhi. on 10/04/23
Immediately the facts of the secret information were verified and a raiding team comprising SI Prashant, ASI Parmod, HC Anuj, HC Ankur, HC Sarvesh HC Rajeev, HC Rajesh, HC Siddharth, Ct. Kuldeep & Ct. Sunny under the leadership of Insp. Vikas I/C Special Staff and overall supervision of ACP/Ops was constituted.
(SUBHEAD) Subsequently after obtaining the search warrant, a raid was conducted at the above-mentioned address and three persons namely 1. Shammi Kumar Sahanis/o LT. SH Mela Ram Sahanir/o Moti Ram Road, near Nutan Public School, Shahdara Delhi age-55 yrs 2. Keshav Sharma s/o SH. Mukesh Sharma r/o Vasudev bank colony, Vasudev Mandir Amroha, UP, age-33 yrs. 3. Dheeraj Dhingras/oBalwinder Dhingra R/O Jwala Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi age-34 yrs. were found running a Cricket Betting Book.
Mr. Rohit Meena, IPS, DCP, Shahdara Distt, said, accused were caught gambling on T-20 IPL Cricket Match RCB Vs LSG with the help of their mobile phones & Laptop. After sustained interrogation, accused Shammi Kumar Sahani disclosed that he is owner of this cricket book. He hired Keshav Sharma (betting software expert) and Dheeraj Dhingra to run his cricket book on a software namely I-Book in which they use to take bets from multiple punters. He further stated that due to the sealing of his restaurant Punjabi Tadka, he was left with no other option than gambling to compensate with his daily expenses.
After obtaining sufficient evidence, a Case vide FIR No. 93/23, dated 10/04/23, u/s 3/4/5 Delhi Public Gambling Act, 1955 was registered at PS M.S. Park and investigation was taken up. Investigation regarding online money trail and other accused is being carried out.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED ARRESTED: Shammi Kumar Sahani s/o LT.SH Mela Ram Sahani r/o Moti Ram Road, near Nutan Public School, Shahdara Delhi age-55 yrs. He is 10th pass. He started a Dhaba with the name of Punjabi Tadka in Laxmi Nagar Delhi. His Dhaba was sealed by the MCD after that he became a bookie about 06 months ago.
Keshav Sharma s/o SH. Mukesh Sharma r/o Vasudev bank colony, Vasudev Mandir Amroha, UP, age-33 yrs. He is 12th pass and unemployed.
Dheeraj Dhingras/o Balwinder Dhingra r/o Jawala Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi age-34 yrs. He is 12th pass and unemployed.
Further investigation is underway.
