GANGAUR CELEBRATED WITH FERVOUR AND GAIETY IN LONDON

Rajasthani migrant women in London celebrated Gangaur festival with great zeal and enthusiasm. Organized by the Rajasthan Association United Kingdom (RAUK), the festival served as a cultural bridge for the Rajasthani community living across the UK. Since 2018, RAUK has been organizing programs steeped in Rajasthani culture in London, this connects the Rajasthanis in UK.

RAUK Trustee Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat said that the biggest Ganwar-Ishwar ride outside India was held at Kingsbury School grounds in Harrow, England to the tune of traditional folk songs. The celebration was led by Dr. Anjali Sharma and Renu Joshi.(SUBHEAD)

Media Incharge Pushpa Chowdhary said that Rajasthani women from all over the UK enthusiastically participated in the festival. A women-led Maha-ghoomar was also organized in this festival. The mouth-watering Rajasthani dishes like Rajasthani Kadhi, Pakora, Lapsi, Puri, Daal, Chawal, Lahsun Ki Chutney and Papad were served.

Innovative puja videos were made by women in traditional ways to guide those who are new to Gangaur festival or are not Rajasthanis but want to celebrate Gangaur, the festival of love and marriage.

Program coordinator Rakhi Gehlot said that the decorations were done by the women, showcasing the Rajasthani theme. Collectively more than 100 women duly worshiped Ganwar-Ishwar.

The team of women volunteers of Rajasthan Association (UK) had full contribution in making the program successful, Aanchal Goyal, Bhavna Sharma, Kiran Nathwat, Ragini, Anuja, Srishti Bhati and Vijaya Dave were lauded for their role.
