After two years of confinement, glory returned to the fields of St. John's High School. The annual sports meet was organized on 10 December with the students participating wholeheartedly in all events.
It began with the March past, which included 16 majestic horses marching in the wake of the school! The days of hard work was evident in the spectacular performances. The drills included boys creating floral displays, paying tribute to Earth. The well-orchestrated equestrian display and show jumping were breathtaking, as were the gymnasts and shooters.
10 December being World Human Rights Day, the races were inclusive, with students from the partner Hubs of Learning schools, Vatika (The school for the hearing disabled), and members of the Transgender community running alongside the school boys and displaying amazing coordination.
(SUBHEAD)Prior to the grand finale was the rising of the four human pyramids (6 high) for all the houses, carrying socially relevant messages.
The sports day ended on a truly inspiring note, with the national anthem being rendered in sign language by 1000 boys and staff on the field. It was a symbolic gesture designed to show support for the differently abled and to “give a voice to the marginalized voiceless people of the world”.
The chief guest, Dr. Shvetta Arora, Regional Officer CBSE encouraged the students saying sports is an integral part of the growth and development of the student and should see large participation.
Mrs. Kavita Das, the Principal, thanked the students, staff and parents for their unmitigated support and encouraged the students to excel not only in their personal achievements but in the field of humanity and compassion as well, so that they contribute positively to society.
