The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent, CGST(Audit), Audit Circle-VI, Gandhidham (Gujarat) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. One Lakh from the Complainant.

A case was registered against Superintendent, CGST (Audit), Audit Circle-VI, Gandhidham on the allegations of demanding undue advantage of Rs.2.40 Lakh [demand of Rs.100/-per container) from the Complainant for the containers he cleared during his earlier posting as Superintendent, Customs, Kandla Port. It was further alleged that the accused told the Complainant to pay the said bribe so as to save him from the Audit which he threatened to conduct, if the undue advantage was not paid.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting bribe Rs.1,00,000/- from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the office & residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of Rs.6.50 Lakh(Approx) and incriminating documents from his residential premises.
