Delhi Police on Tuesday recovered 10 pieces of Shraddha Walker's body from Mehrauli's forests. According to the police, 26-year-old Shraddha was murdered by her live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawalla. Pieces of the dead body were found at his mark. The police took Aftab to Mehrauli forest at 10 am. Aftab had thrown the body parts here. At present, the head and some other parts of the body are being searched. Police said that Shraddha and Aftab had come to Delhi on 8 May. Aftab killed Shraddha after 10 days i.e. on 18th May. Aftab had taken a flat near the forest so that he could bring the dead body.
A fortnight ago both visited Rishikesh in Utterakhand and it was proved their last trip. Delhi Police also searching mobile of Shardha and also looking accused new girl friend, who stayed with him after murder of Shardha
The staff of PS Mehrauli, South District has done good work by arresting an accused namely Aaftab Amin Poonawala in case FIR dated 10.11.22 U/S 365/302/201 IPC P.S. Mehrauli, New Delhi.
On 08.11.2022, the staff of P.S Manik Pur, Mumbai reported at P.S. Mehrauli, South District regarding missing of a girl. The said missing girl was staying along with one person namely Aftab Amin at Chhattarpur Pahadi P.S. Mehrauli and went missing from the area of P.S Mehrauli. Hence, on 09.11.2022, a missing report of the girl was lodged at P.S Mehrauli Delhi.(SUBHEAD)
During initial enquiry, the family members of the missing girl were contacted and details were sought. Her father stated that on 14.09.2022, his son was informed by his daughter’s friend that there was no contact with the girl for past 2.5 months and her mobile phone was also switched off. After that, he had lodged a missing report of his daughter in P.S. Manikpur, Maharastra. On his statement, a case vide FIR dated 10.11.22 U/s 365 IPC was registered at P.S. Mehrauli, New Delhi and investigation was taken up.
INVESTIGATION, TEAM & ARREST: – Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case and nature of incident, a team comprising of Inspr. Ram Singh, ATO/Mehrauli, Inspr. Manoj Kumar, SI Suraj, SI Manoj, HC Pradeep, HC Ashwani and Ct. Deepak led by Inspr. P.C. Yadav, SHO/Mehrauli under overall supervision of Shri Vinod Narang, ACP/Mehrauli was formed to act swiftly.
Mr. Ankit Chauhan, IPS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, said during the course of investigation, a man hunt was launched against Aaftab Amin Poonawala. A raid was conducted at Gali No. 1, Chhatterpur Pahadi, New Delhi place where both were living. Technical surveillance was mounted. Further, the team collected the CCTV footage of the nearby and adjoining areas. Local sources were deployed and human intelligence was collected. The information about accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala was further developed and accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala was detained.
INTERROGATION: –During the course of sustained interrogation, accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala disclosed that he and the deceased were in a live-in relation since 2019 and originally both hail from Mumbai. They had met each other through some dating app in year 2019. They were together since then. They had very frequent fights. They had visited hill stations in the month of March & April.
Thereafter, they decided to stay in Delhi. On the day of incident, the accused strangulated the deceased. The accused cut the body into many parts and disposed them over a long period. Accordingly sections 302/201 were added in the case.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED ARRESTED: Aaftab Amin Poonawala S/o Amin Poonawala R/o Unique Park, New Deewan Man, Vasai, West Mumbai. Age – 28 Years. Further investigation is under progress.
