• THREE PERSONS INCLUDING A WEBSITE DEVELOPER ARRESTED FROM BIHAR. • THE ACCUSED CREATED FAKE WEBSITE OF PATANJALI YOGGRAM AND RECEIVED CALLS FROM PATIENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS AND IMPERSONATED THEMSELVES AS AYURVEDIC DOCTORS FOR REGISTRATION & BOOKING. • FORGED PAYMENT RECEIPTS & BOOKING VOUCHERS WERE SENT TO VICTIMS TO GAIN TRUST.• THE VICTIMS WOULD ONLY FIND OUT THAT THEY WERE DUPED WHEN THEY WOULD VISIT PATANJALI YOGGRAM, HARIDWAR FOR TREATMENT.• SO FAR SEVERAL VICTIMS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED WHO WERE DUPED BY THE GANG WITH SIMILAR MODUS OPERANDI.• WEBSITE DEVELOPER, PERUSING MASTERS IN COMPUTER APPLICATION WHO CREATED SEVERAL FAKE SIMILAR WEBSITES, HAS ALSO BEEN ARRESTED.• 20 FAKE WEBSITES IN THE NAME PATANJALI YOGGRAM & OTHER AYURVEDIC TREATMENT CENTERS WERE IDENTIFIED AND DETAILS WERE SENT TO NATIONAL INTERNET EXCHANGE OF INDIA FOR BLOCKING.• 5 LAPTOPS, 10 MOBILE PHONES, 19 SIM CARDS, 12 DEBIT CARD, 4 CHEQUE BOOK, 6 PASS BOOKS & 1 WIFI MODEM RECOVERED. RS 1,66,000/- FREEZED IN BANK ACCOUNT.

Continuing the drive against Cybeface2News/r fraudsters, who were duping gullible citizens, a dedicated team of PS Cyber North comprising SI Rohit, SI Ranjit Singh, SI Guman Singh, ASI Mahesh Patil, HC Kalu Ram, HC Praveen and HC Bharat under the supervision of Insp Pawan Tomar, SHO/Cyber North and overall supervision & guidance of Shri Dharmender Kumar, ACP/Ops, busted a Bihar based Cyber Crime Gang duping victims in name of Treatment & booking at Patanjali Yoggram Haridwar.
A complaint on MHA Cyber Crime Portal from complainant Nitin Sharma was received in Cyber Police Station North District wherein he alleged that he searched one mobile number on Google for Ayurvedic treatment of his son and contacted a mobile number mentioned on a website. When he contacted given number, a person pretending to be Dr. Sunil Gupta from Patanjali contacted him and directed him to pay Rs 10,000/- as a registration fee.
Subsequently, he was directed to pay amount on different occasions for booking and latter on complainant paid Rs. 2,40,500/- in account provided by Dr Sunil Gupta. Complainant came to know about this fraud when he reached Patanjali Niramayan, Haridwar. A Case vide FIR NO 126/2022 dated 04/11/2022 U/s 420 IPC Cyber Police Station was registered in this regard.
OPERATION: A dedicated team was handed over the task to identify accused and arrest culprits. Technical analysis of Call Details was made. Ownership details of bank account was collected and it was found that mobile number originated from Kolkata West Bengal and were active in Nalanda, Bihar. Whereas money was withdrawn from different ATMs in West Bengal.
One suspect was identified on the basis of CDR and Manual Information Gathering in Patna Bihar and a website developer was apprehended from Patna who created fake website for the accused https://tptayurved.in/ & https://theayurvedicupchar.com/ for accused. Subsequently, main accused was identified as Ramesh Patel R/o Dashrathpur PS Giriyak District Nalanda Bihar.
On the basis of electronic & manual surveillance residence of suspect Ramesh Patel & Ashish both Resident of Dashrathpur, PS Giriyak District Nalanda Bihar were arrested by the team of Cyber North Police Station with co-operation from local Police Station Giriyak (Nalanda).(SUBHEAD)
INTERROGATION: Mr. Sagar Singh Kalsi, IPS, DCP, said, during interrogation accused Ramesh & Ashish revealed that they would purchase pre-activated sims of West Bengal, Assam & Orissa from various sources. Accused also purchased pre-activated bank accounts bank account, which were used for payment and withdrawal. Accused further revealed that fake websites were created so that people looking for treatment at Patanjali Yoggram will contact them for booking as no option of online booking for a stay at Patanjali Yoggram was available on the internet.
Once victim/patient/Family member of the patient contacts them on the number mentioned on the website they introduced themselves as Doctor of Patanjali Yoggram and charge money in name of booking & treatment. Money was withdrawn by different persons at different locations. Accused Harender revealed that he created websites in name of https://tptayurved.in/ & https://theayurvedicupchar.com/ etc with Ayurved & treatment as keywords which will appear on the screen of victim when anyone searches Ayurvedic Treatment or Patanjali Treatment etc on Google. He also revealed that he keeps on changing numbers on the website as numbers were marked as spam on true-caller after making some calls.

RECOVERY: 5 Laptops., 10 Mobile Phones., 19 SIM Cards of Airtel/Jio/Voda., 12 Debit Cards., 5. 04 Cheque Books., 06 Pass Books., 01 Wifi Modem., Rs. 1,66,000/- freezed in Bank Accounts.
