While a police team comprising HC Amrish and Const. Harender under the supervision of SHO/Karawal Nagar were patrolling in the area, reached behind Alok Punj School, Karawal Nagar, where they notice a Honda Civic Car No. DL-3CBE-1136 parked by the side of nala on Wednesday.A person was sitting in the driver seat of the car in suspicious condition. Police team approached him and asked the reason of his presence and also to get the boot of the vehicle checked.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sain, IPS, DCP, North East Distt, said seeing the police team, he panicked and immediately started the car and tried to drive away in reverse gear dangerously. To save himself, Const. Harender hanged on the car. After covering some distance, the driver hit the car in the wall of a house resulting which Const. Harender got injured. Somehow HC Amrish caught hold of the driver of the car. He was later identified as Ankur R/o Prem Nagar, Dayalpur, Delhi, Age-22 years.
Meanwhile local public gathered and Const. Harender was shifted to Max Hospital Patparganj, later he was diagnose with “Hip Fracture”.(SUBHEAD)
During the cursory search, a consignment of ‘11 suspected packets wrapped with brown tape’ was found stacked in boot of the car. The incident was reported to the senior officers. Immediately a police team SI Deepak, ASI Suman and Const. Ajay reached the spot. Crime/FSL Team was also called for inspection of scene of crime and to lift the exhibits. Following the guidelines of NDPS Act, the packets were checked. On checking 57.70 Kg of psychotropic substance cannabis was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 465/22 dated 26.10.2022 u/s 30/186/353 IPC and 20 -C NDPS Act, PS Karawal Nagar, Delhi was registered and investigation taken up.
On sustained interrogation, he confessed to his crime and disclosed that he had been working as a driver for a person namely Rohit whom he met through one of his friends Pankaj. Rohit lured him for Rs. 20,000/- per trip in lieu of transporting the drug consignment from interstate.
Sincere efforts to nab Rohit and Pankaj are on. Further investigation into the case is under progress.
Ankur R/o Prem Nagar, Dayalpur, Delhi, Age 22 years. He studied up to 12th class and is jobless at present.
