The team of Narcotics Squad, South District has done commendable work by arresting a foreign national drug peddler namely Thawe Edward in a case FIR No. 383/22 U/s 21 NDPS Act & 14 Foreigners Act, PS Saket. From his possession, 307 Gms. Smack/Heroine have been recovered. The value of the recovered substance in international market is approximately 1.20 Crore.
The team of Narcotics Squad, South District was specifically tasked to keep vigil on the activities of the criminals involved in organized crime to curb the organized crimes in the area of South District. Accordingly, the staff of Narcotics Squad initiated sincere efforts by sensitizing local informers and collecting human intelligence. Consequently, the patrolling was intensified at the vulnerable areas for prevention and detection in the area.
Consequently, information was received in Narcotics Squad that one person involved in supplying of contraband substances would come near Pushp Vihar in the area of PS Saket. The information was shared with senior officers and a team comprising of SI Rajiv, SI Narender, ASI Surender, ASI Ramdhari, HC Sanjay, HC Parveen, Ct. Vishal and Ct. Chhotu headed by Inspr. Anand Kumar Jha, IC/Anti-Narcotics Squad under the guidance of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, ACP/OPS/SD. was constituted to nab the drug peddler.
The team developed information and laid a trap near front of near Khokha Market Road, Sector 1, Pushp Vihar, in P.S. Saket area. After a while, a person was seen roaming in some suspicious circumstances. He was signaled to stop but instead of stopping, he started moving swiftly. Reacting promptly, the team successfully overpowered the suspect.
Mr. Chandan Chowdhary, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, said, on cursory search, total 307 Grams of fine quality Smack/Heroin was recovered from his possession. Later on, he was identified as an African National national namely Thawe Edward. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 383/22 U/s 21 NDPS Act & 14 Foreigners Act, was registered in PS Saket and investigation was taken up. The accused was arrested and recovered smack/Heroin was seized.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Thawe Edward S/o Edward Godwin R/o Near Malik Medical Store, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, Age – 30 Years. Permanent resident of 61, Screw Road, State-Onoxalos, Tanzania. He came in October in 2021 on student visa. For his livelihood he indulged in supplying of contraband substance in Delhi and NCR region
