Senior Punjab BJP leader Sunil Jakhar has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce special pension for widow mothers who are the only bread earners for their families, and a scholarship scheme for their children to ensure respectable subsitence for them.

In his letter to the PM, the former Lok Sabha MP has suggested announcement of these much needed special measure during the Durga Puja festivities as a gesture by the centre towards widow mothers and their families in ensuring proper education and other facilities through this financial aid.

“In view of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, i seek to urge you to consider the long pending demands for a dedicated alllwance to single widow mothers for looking after their children. The occasion of Durga Puja would be the most opportune moment for you to announce a special Scholarship scheme quota for education of their wards,” Jakhar wrote in his letter.

Jakhar also handed over a copy of letter to BJP president J P Nadda in New Delhi.
