UT CHANDIGARH ADMIN CRACKS DOWN ON SUPRIOUS FOOD, HUGE QUANTITY OF PANEER SEIZED, SAMPLE FROM DESI GHEE TAKEN

Under the able guidance of the Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens, and directions of the Health-cum-Commissioner Food Safety, Chandigarh Administration, the Food Safety Administration, Health Department, conducted a surprise raid on Wednesday at around 7:00 AM in Bapudham Colony, Sector-26, Chandigarh.

On inspection around 450kg of Paneer was found lying in the shop in House No. 714/2, Bapudham Colony, Sector-26, Chandigarh and some in the Pickup vehicle parked outside the said premises. The Food Safety Officer seized the sample of Paneer from the premises as well as from the said pickup vehicle. Also sample of Desi ghee and Dahi was seized from the said premises.

(SUBHEAD)The seized samples shall be got analyzed from the Food Analyst Lab duly authorized by the FSSAI in due course of time and suitable action shall be initiated against the Food Business Operator if found non conforming to the standards.

The complete stock of Paneer in the said premises was seized and kept in the safe custody of the Food Business Operator as per the provisions contained under the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006. Two challans issued under Section 63 of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 to both the Food Business Operators i.e. shopkeeper and the vehicle operator for selling the Food Article without FSSAI license for public sale and for human consumption.

Administration appealed to all the residents / consumers to remain cautious and vigilant while purchasing any food article from market. They should ensure that the food items they purchase are to be purchased from the license shops which observe complete hygiene and use quality products, so that there would be no harm to their health.

In case any of the consumers observe / see anything abnormal, they may report the matter to the Department of Food Safety & Standards, Director Health Services, Govt. Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh.
