FEROZEPUR FARMER WINS FIRST PRIZE FOR SUGARCANE AT PAU KISAN MELA

Farmer Avtar Singh of Sadhuwala village in Ferozepur district has won the first prize in the sugarcane category at the PAU Kisan Mela 2026 in Ludhiana. Avtar Singh was honoured for his CoPb 98 sugarcane exhibit at the competition organised by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. The award was presented by PAU Vice-Chancellor Sukhjit Pal Singh (IAS), Director of Research Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Extension Education Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar and other senior university officials.

The achievement came with the support of the PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ferozepur team and following the initiative of Tejinder Singh of Sadhuwala village. Avtar Singh credited his achievement to his father Balwinder Singh and brother Tejinder Singh Sandhu. He said the recognition had encouraged him to further expand sugarcane cultivation and processing.

The PAU-KVK Ferozepur team congratulated Avtar Singh on the achievement and said his success would encourage other farmers in the district, particularly the younger generation, to adopt progressive farming practices.The team said the achievement was a matter of pride for Sadhuwala village as well as farmers of Ferozepur district.
