MLA Sandeep Jakhar has been walking through the markets to wish people a Happy Diwali for the past six days.
(MOREPIC1)His grandfather Bal Ram Jakhar started this tradition in 1972 when he was elected MLA from Abohar constituency. Later his sons Sajjan Kumar Jakhar and Sunil Jakhar followed the same. In their absence Surinder Jakhar would continue the practice.
Sandeep has ensured his presence here ahead of Diwali to walk through most of the markets in the old town area as well as in the residential colonies across the railway station.
His youth centric events like cricket championship, volleyball tournament, teej fair, marathon race, honoring safai sewaks and campaign against drugs under the umbrella of the Jakhar Trust have helped in earning nick-name “sada Jakhar” this was considered one of the reasons that made him winner in the 2022 Assembly election despite of AAP tsunami.
