SRIGANGANAGAR COURT SENTENCES 22 PERSONS TO TWO YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT IN SELLING OF FAKE MARKS SHEETS AND CERTIFICATES

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Sriganganagar (Rajasthan), has sentenced 22 private persons including Kashmir Singh, Surendra Singh, Malkeet Singh, Gurpal Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Khushwinder Singh, Chander Singh, Krishan Kumar Bishnoi, Baldev Singh S/o Sh. Mohar Singh, Gurjinderpal Singh, Pankaj Chopra, Hargurnath Singh, Mukesh Kumar Garg, Mandeep Singh, Rajpal Singh, Manjeet Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Harwinder Singh, Balveer Singh, Kewal Singh, Baldev Singh S/o Sh. Jeet Singh and Jasmat Singh to undergo two years’ Imprisonment with fine in a case related to selling of fake marks sheets and certificates.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had taken over the instant case on 30.09.1997. The case was earlier registered at Sadar Police Station, Distt. Sriganganangar under FIR No. 301/1996 on a complaint.

(SUBHEAD)It was alleged that accused defrauded the complainant by selling forged fake mark sheets and certificates, purportedly from the Punjab Secondary Education Board.

Chargesheet was filed by CBI on April 21, 1999, against 25 accused persons and Charges were formally framed against the accused in 2003.

After completion of trial, the Court held 22 accused guilty and sentenced them accordingly. Trial against two accused was abated due to their death while one accused was acquitted by the Court as a juvenile.

The conviction comes in the wake of meticulous investigation and effective prosecution by CBI team presenting plausible evidences which were upheld by the Ld Trial Court.
