WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY: GMSH SECTOR 16 COLLECTED 50 UNITS

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated every year on 14th June,2025 to thank Voluntary non remunerated blood donors for their life saving gift of Blood. The theme of this year’s compagin is “Give blood, give hope: together we save lives!

This day was celebrated by organizing an in house Blood Donation camp at Blood Centre, Govt. Multispecialty Hospital Sector 16. Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health & Family Welfare, U.T Chandigarh inaugurated the camp & honoured the regular blood donors and also thanked them for their invaluable gift of life. The need for voluntary blood donation during disasters was highlighted.

The Medical Superintendent Dr. Sushil Kumar Mahi and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Parmjit Singh also graced the occasion and encouraged the donors. The need for committed, regular and safe donors and community participation for holding regular blood donation camps to maintain adequate supply of blood was highlighted which helps in saving the lives of many patients suffering from severe anemia, cancer, Thallasaemia, accidents, obstetric patients etc

Under supervision of Dr. Simerjit Kaur Gill Incharge, Blood Centre GMSH-16, 50 units were collected for the needy patients. Staff members enthusiastically participated in the camp.
