FANS PAY A GHAZAL-FILLED TRIBUTE ON JAGJIT SINGH’S DEATH ANNIVERSARY

To commemorate the death anniversary of the Ghazal Maestro and Padma Bhushan recipient, Jagjit Singh, the Rashtriya Kala Mandir (RKM) organized “Shaam-e-Ghazal” at the Chaudhary Ramjas Kala Sadan Auditorium, Sriganganagar. The chief guest, Shivdayal Gupta, Chairman of the Sriganganagar Purchase and Sale Cooperative Society, showered praise on the organisers and artists.

RKM president Virendra Baid informed that singers Sunil Sharma Sheelu, Dr. Mrs. Anju Borad and Simranjit Singh Mann presented Jagjit Singh’s famous ghazals, poems and songs. The program commenced with Saraswati Vandana and the lighting of a lamp in front of Jagjit Singh’s portrait.

The artists performed iconic compositions such as Hazaron Khawahish Aisi, Kaun Aayega Yahan Koi, Pyar Ka Pehla Khat Likhne Mein, Koi Fariyaad Tere Dil Mein, Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat Thi etc.

Vishal Mittal presented a flute performance, with Sunil Maurya on tabla, Pankaj Pahwa on keyboard, Vishal Mittal on flute and Vipin Juneja on keypad providing accompaniment.

Jagjit Singh was born at Sriganganagar, where he grew up and received his early education. The RKM recognized his talent early on and continuously encouraged him to excel in the field of music.
