A delegation from the Punjab government, led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, in Wednesday met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati to extend a formal invitation for the upcoming events commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji (Shaheedi Purab). 

(MOREPIC1)  The high-level meeting underscored the spirit of national unity and shared reverence for the sacrifices made by the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, who is widely revered as 'Hind Di Chadar' for his selfless sacrifice to protect religious freedom and human rights. 

Extending a Historic Invitation, the Cabinet Ministers Cheema and Kataruchak personally handed over the invitation to the Chief Minister Sarma, outlining the series of grand commemorative events being organized by the Punjab Government. These events are scheduled to take place at various historically significant locations, with the primary focus on celebrating the life, teachings, and unparalleled sacrifice of the Guru. 

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema highlighted the universal significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji's martyrdom. “The sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji transcends religious boundaries. It is a powerful lesson in defending human rights and the freedom of conscience,” said Cheema. “By inviting Chief Minister Sarma, we aim to ensure that this historic occasion is marked with national participation, reflecting the Guru's message of inclusive brotherhood and courage.” 

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak emphasized the spiritual connection shared across states. “Assam, too, holds a deep respect for the Sikh Gurus, and we believe the Chief Minister Sarma's presence will further strengthen the cultural and historical bonds between Punjab and Assam,” he added. 

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma warmly received the Punjab delegation and expressed his profound respect for Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. He assured the ministers that the Assam Government acknowledges the monumental contribution of the Guru to India's cultural and spiritual heritage.

While accepting the invitation, CM Sarma conveyed his best wishes for the success of the commemorative programs and affirmed that his government would explore all possibilities for participation, acknowledging the special place the Guru holds in the national conscience.
