“Words have their own power. It is up to a journalist how you choose the words, how you present them. This decides what effect that news will have on society. Today we watch news channels, sometimes it seems that they are not having a discussion but fighting amongst themselves. In this way, how could we keep the good thing positive and calm? We can present our view point with decency and civility, but in today's scenario, news has become the meaning of flamboyance, chili-spice.”
These views were expressed by the Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University's School of Journalism and New Media Studies, Prof. Om Prakash Deval on the third day of the 26th National Media Conference organized by the Media Wing of Brahma Kumaris at Shantivan, Abu Road. Intellectuals from all over the country contemplated the role of media in the establishment of Golden Age India.
Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh said that we have to bring a change in ourselves before making India a world guru and golden age. When we make our thoughts positive, then our energy increases, we get energy to move forward.
Aarti Tripathi, member of the Press Council of India said that if we want to bring a golden age on this earth, then the media will have to come forward. If we do journalism with selflessness, fearlessness and honesty, then it will give a new direction to society.
Suparna Gangwal, Director of SMS Production, said that all the media persons should take a pledge to promote positive journalism from here.(SUBHEAD)
Rajeev Kumar Nishan of Indian Media Welfare Association said that when you do value-based journalism, problems come to the fore, but if you move forward with determination, you definitely get success.
Motivational speaker Prof. Omkar Chand said that the media has the power to change society. This is the only medium which can bring change in the world. Now we have to decide whether our words should be incendiary or fire-fighting.
