(MOREPIC1)ISMANING (GERMANY): 274th ranked Ramkumar Ramanathan of India lost to top seed and 78th ranked Quentin Halys of France in singles pre quarter-final match of the € 45,730 Wolffkran Open ATP Challenger in Germany. In the evenly fought match which continued for nearly two hours, Hayls fired 19 aces and committed five double faults. Hayls just managed to post a narrow 7-6 (2), 3-6, 7-5 verdict.
Ramkumar served seven aces and committed six double faults. The Indian pair won 74 percent points (85/115) on his first serve and 53 percent (16/30) on the second serve. He saved eight of nine breakpoints.
Hayls won 92 percent points (55/60) on his first serve and 47 percent points (14/30) on second serve. He wasted one breakpoint.
Ramkumar got a paycheck for €730 and 71 points.
After losing the first set, Ramkumar bounced back into the game by winning the second set in 27 minutes. He broke his rival's serve in the eighth game to gain a 5-3 lead and held his serve to wrap up the set (one-set all).
In the deciding third set, Hayls broke Ramkumar in the 12th game to win the set 7-5 in 39 minutes and the match.
TOP SEEDS YUKI AND SAKETH UPSET: Protected Ranked Australian pair of Marc Polmans and Max Purcell toppled top seeds Indian pair of Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni 6-4 6-7 (12) 10-6 in the doubles quarter-final round of the $132,800 FILA Seoul Open Challenger, Seoul Korea. The match lasted one hour and 52nd minutes.
The Indian pair committed five double faults and served five aces. They won 80 percent points (37/46) on their first serve and 59 percent points (19/32) on the second serve. The Indian pair, however, could not convert any of the four breakpoints.
Marc Polmans and Max Purcell converted the lone breakpoint which came their way. They won 73 percent points (46/63) on their first serve and 59 percent points (13/22) on their second serve. They served three aces and committed two double faults.
Yuki and Saketh earned $1600 and 22 points.
