The alert team of Dwarka District reported to have arrested three persons involved in Acid Attack case on a minor girl. The accused identified as Sachin Arora, age 20 years, he used to do wallpaper work, Harshit Aggarwal @ Honey, age 19 years, he used to do packing work in a private company and Virender Singh @ Sonu, age 22 years, he works as a generator mechanic.
INCIDENT: On 14.12.22, at about 8.45 AM, an information was received from DDU Hospital at Police Station Mohan Garden, Dwarka district regarding alleged acid attack on a 17 year-old girl. Immediately the police teams rushed to the Hospital and it was found that at around 7:30 AM, victim aged 17 years (12th class student) was going to school along with her younger sister. At Verma Chowk, Rama Park (area of PS Mohan Garden), 2 persons on a bike came and the pillion rider threw some acid like substance on the girl.(SUBHEAD)
The girl was shifted to other hospital where she is under treatment with 8% burn injuries. Consequently, a case vide FIR No. 670/22, dated 14.12.22, u/s 326A/34 IPC was registered at PS Mohan Garden and investigation taken up.
Police teams responded swiftly, and multiple teams of Operations unit, Dwarka district and PS Mohan Garden were constituted under the overall leadership of DCP/Dwarka M. Harsha Vardhan, IPS to identify and nab the accused persons. Based on information developed from witnesses and local sources, accused persons were identified and arrested. Three accused persons have been arrested within hours of the incident namely Sachin Arora aged 20 yrs, Harshit Aggarwal @ Honey aged 19 years & Virender Singh @ Sonu aged 22 years.
INTERROGATION: Mr.Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, L & O Division, Zone-II, Delhi, told media persons in evening that on interrogation, it was revealed that accused Sachin was known to the victim and they were on friendly terms till September 2022. They had fallout after September which led the accused to indulge in this crime. Accused Harshit was driving the motorcycle at the time of incident. Accused Virender aided the accused persons by being part of the criminal conspiracy. In the morning before the incident, he took the scooty and mobile of accused Sachin with him to another location so as to create an alibi and mislead the investigation.
During interrogation, on the basis of technical evidence it has been found that the accused procured Acid from Flipkart. Further investigation is going on in the matter.
