THE FRAUDSTERS DUPED PEOPLE BY IMPERSONATING THEMSELVES AS EXECUTIVES OF ONLINE SUPPORT FOR INTERNET GIANTS LIKE FACEBOOK AND AMAZON, THE FRAUDSTERS WERE CHEATING INNOCENT PEOPLES BASED IN ABROAD (USA) ON THE PRETEXT OF SOLVING A NON EXISTING PROBLEM CREATED BY THEM AND THEIR ASSOCIATES AND CHARGING HEFTY AMOUNT FOR SOLVING THE SAME, NINE ACCUSED PERSONS APPREHENDED, 11 SMART PHONES AND 8 LAPTOPS SEIZED, ONE WIFI ROUTER ALSO RECORED

The Cyber PS Team of Outer District has done a splendid work by arresting two accused persons, involved in operating a fake International Call Center and apprehending 07 Tele-callers involved in the same who used to dupe people by impersonating themselves as executives of online support for internet giants like Face book and Amazon. The fraudsters were cheating innocent peoples based in abroad (USA) on the pretext of solving a non existing problem created by them and their associates and charging hefty amount for the same. Total 11 smart phones and 08 laptops have been seized.
On 28.06.2023, a secret information was received at Cyber Police Station, Outer District regarding running of a fake call center at H-N Block, Krishan Vihar, Sultanpuri, New Delhi and involved in large scale cyber cheating with US citizen impersonating as the executives of leading internet firms like Face Book and Amazon and inducing them to pay them money on the promise of solving a non-existing problem.
On receipt of the information, a dedicated team comprising SI Amit Kumar, HC Sandeep Kumar, HC Kulbir, HC Ramesh, Ct. Sandeep and Ct. Vinay Hooda and led by Inspector Sandeep Panwar, SHO/Cyber Police Station was constituted under the supervision of ACP Operations/Outer District.
The team along with the secret informer reached the spot and a raid was conducted at H-N Block, Krishan Vihar, Sultanpuri where a call center was found operational at 3rd Floor of the above said building. Several laptops and smart phones were found at the spot. On checking the Laptops, it was found that the fraudsters had installed in the laptop systems VPN softwares for masking their IP Address, so that they would not be tracked.(SUBHEAD)
Further the team checked the laptops and found that they are also using remote access applications. The systems were checked and it was found that in all the laptop systems there was notepad application showing details of mobile numbers of victims, their email IDs and money taken from them.
There were also recorded call conversations in the download folder of some of the laptops. In one of the Laptops one Telegram Group on web application by the name of “Jai Shree Ganesh 100” in which there was continuous chat regarding their illegal operation of cheating the foreign citizens was found. On the basis of the above and material recovered and facts found in the said call centre premises, a case vide FIR No. 52/2023, U/S 419/420/120B/34 IPC & 66C & 66D IT Act, Cyber P.S. Outer, Outer District, Delhi has been registered on 29.06.2023 and 02 persons found involved in the offence have been arrested and other 07 tele-callers have also been bound down in the case. The smart phones and laptops used for cheating have been seized.
INTERROGATION: Mr. Harendra Singh, IPS, DCP, Outer Distt, said, during sustained interrogation, accused Prince Sharma and Mukul Dev disclosed that they both worked in a call center in Gurgaon and soon learned the tricks of the trade. Prince along with the co-accused Mukul and 02 other persons started a fake call center setup in South Delhi in 2021 but closed due to internal disputes. They again started the fake call center in 2023 in Sultanpuri area for duping the foreign Citizens. The accused persons further disclosed the involvement of a foreign national with an international/USA number who used to arrange all the services of calls with the people and also the conversion of cheated gift card value into Indian Rupees.
MODUS-OPERANDI:The persons used to communicate in English name only in order to impersonate as executives of Amazon and Face Book. The fraudsters had installed VPN softwares in their laptop systems for masking their IP Address, so that they would not be tracked. Further it was found that they are also using many remote access applications. It was also revealed that fraudsters are engaged in using illegal techniques, VOIP calling, bypassing the legal International Long Distance (ILD) Gateways and thus causing wrongful loss to Government Exchequer and wrongful gain to themselves. They were cheating innocent peoples based in abroad (USA) on the pretext of solving a non-existing problem created by them and their associates and charging hefty amount for the same. The persons involved in this illegal operation were found using high end technical softwares for making calls impersonating USA Numbers and as Amazon and Face book Support executives.
KNOE THE ACCUSED: Prince Sharma R/o Krishan Vihar, Sultanpuri, Delhi, Age-25 Years, Mukul Dev R/o Krishan Vihar, Sultanpuri, Delhi, Age-25 Years and 7 telecallers also apprehended
