Congress high command has appointed 44-year-old businessman Ankur Miglani as district party president for Sriganganagar. The office was lying vacant for the past three years.
He is the president of Shri Arorvansh Sanatan Dharam Mandir Trust, the biggest organization of the Arora fraternity. He is also the president of Sarafa (Jewelers) Association and a patron in the Samyukta Beopar Mandal.
Former minister Radheshyam had played the longest innings as a Punjabi leader in the Congress. He was the District President of the grand-old party for almost 20 years. Later, from the year 2003 to 2011, Prithvi Pal Singh Sandhu served the District President.(SUBHEAD)
With the appointment of Miglani, all kinds of speculations have been laid to rest. Arch rival BJP was cornered by appointing Jat leader Atmaram Tarad as District President of BJP about four years back, political analysts said. AAP had started its poll campaign by organising a huge rally last month but Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, who won applause from the gathering more than party chief Arvind Kejriwal, finally dismayed the people by skipping any favorable assurance on more water for Punjabi belt.
