CBI ARRESTS BRANCH MANAGER, FIELD OFFICER OF PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF RS.25K

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Branch Manager and a Field Officer, both working in Punjab National Bank, Khekra, Bagpat(Uttar Pradesh) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.25,000/- from the Complainant.

A case was registered on 31.07.2023 on complaint against a Branch Manager and a Field Officer namely Lalityadav, Branch Manager, PNB, Khekra, Baghpat, U.p.  and Mukesh Meena, Field Officer, pNB, Khekra, Baghpat, U.p., both of Punjab National Bank, Khekra, Bagpat(Uttar Pradesh). It was alleged that the Complainant  shubham Dhama s/o Jitender Dhama was having KCC account, jointly in his name & in the name of his grandfather in Punjab National Bank, Khekra, Bagpat.

It was further stated that an amount of Rs.4.95 Lakh was sanctioned in the said KCC account and the same was disbursed in the saving bank account. It was further alleged that an amount of Rs.50,000/- in the said saving bank was put on hold by the Branch Manager. When the complainant inquired about the same from Branch Manager and Field Officer, both demanded an alleged bribe of Rs.35,000/- initially to release the said amount. Later, the bribe was reduced to Rs.25,000/-.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.25,000/- from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of both the accused.
