BSF (WESTRN COMMAND) CELEBRATES 77th INDPENDNCE DAY

On the auspicious occasion of Independence Day, Officers and men assembled at HQ Border Security Force (WC) Chandigarh to celebrate 77th Independence Day.

(MOREPIC1) (MOREPIC2)The event began with the flag hoisting ceremony by Sh. P.V. Rama Sastry, IPS, Special Director General BSF (WC) Chandigarh in the presence of various ranks and file of the force, wherein about 250 Officers, Subordinate Officers and Other ranks participated with great zeal, enthusiasm and nationalistic fervor.

(SUBHEAD)Highlighting the theme of this year’s Independence Day “Nation First Always First” Sh. P.V. Rama Sastry, IPS, Special Director General BSF (WC) Chandigarh reminded the troops of the legacy that has stood strong against all odds especially during our freedom struggle and also reminded them about the responsibilities that come with the rights and privileges bestowed upon all citizens consequent to the sacrifices of our leaders of freedom struggles. He also stressed that being a member of the Border Guarding Force, it is incumbent upon each member of the force to secure the borders of our nation and create a sense of security amongst the border population.

While addressing the troops, he congratulated the members of the Force serving at various frontiers and border out posts under Western Command who have been conferred with the award of Police Medal For Gallantry (PMG), President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPMDS) and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) including Sh S.K Srivastava, DIG and Sh Arun Kumar Sharma, DC for Police Medal of HQ Special DG BSF Chandigarh for Meritorious Servive.

At the end sweets were distributed to all the troops present on the occasion.
