3 Base Repair Depot (3BRD), Chandigarh celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on 01 December 2023. Air Marshal Vibhas Pande, AVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, graced the occasion as chief guest. Several dignitaries including Serving Officers and veterans of the Depot with their family members witnessed the day long events to commemorate the historic occasion.
Special Day Cover was released by the chief guest in a magnificent ceremony. A Coffee Table Book encapsulating the glorious journey of the Depot in last sixty years dedicated to the service of the nation, was also released on the occasion. The aerial display performed by the Air Devils Sky diving team and Para Motor display left the spectators spellbound. Scintillating performance by the school children also enthralled the guests. The synchronized drill movements performed by the Air Warrior Drill team of the IAF showcased the essence of military discipline, trust and the bond the team shares.
A seminar on 'Skill Development towards aviation Maintenance for Defence and Civil MRO' was organised. Eminent Indian aviation industry partners like GMR and Tata Defence also participated in the seminar. The Seminar resulted in brain storming on the most important issue of “Skill Development” in the field of Aviation MRO in the country. Certain definitive solutions emerged which would go a long way in strengthening the Aviation industry in the country. The speakers also brought forward the necessity to embrace cutting edge technology in keeping the air assets ready, to meet the challenges of the modern day air warfare.
(SUBHEAD)While addressing the gathering, the AOC-in-C appreciated the invaluable contribution of the veterans who had built the foundation for the success story of this depot and the personnel of the Depot for carrying the legacy of maintaining high standards professionalism. He complimented the AOC and team Phoenix for the concentrated efforts towards hastening Indigenisation of complex critical aggregates, which has put the Depot on the path towards self-reliance w.r.t Maintenance of Mi-Series fleet. The
Air Marshal exhorted the Depot personnel to continue to provide their best efforts to maintain the supply chain despite prevailing global Geo-Political situation.
Under the leadership of Air Cmde Rajeev Shrivastava, AOC 3 BRD, Depot has been adjudged as the best Air Craft & Engine BRD for the year 2022-23 by Headquarters Maintenance Command. Also on 8th October 2023, Depot was awarded the Chief of Air Staff Unit Citation for providing pro-active support to the operational Mi-Series and AN-32 fleet of the IAF since last six decades.
Diamond Jubilee celebrations of 3 BRD truly showcased the rapid strides made by Indian Air Force towards “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”. Display of high morale of the men in Blue was evident and all the air warriors took oath to serve the nation to the best of their abilities.
