DELHI POLICE CHIEF AND DIRECTOR, FBI ENCOURAGED RESOURCE SHARING IN INVESTIGATION OF COMPLEX TECHNOLOGY ENABLED CRIMES

Mr Christopher A Wray, Director, FBI visited Delhi Police Headquarters here on Tuesday.  The visit was a part of the ongoing tour of the Director, FBI to India. The delegation was accorded a warm welcome.

The Director, FBI was briefed of the mandate, challenges and organizational set up of Delhi Police and about areas of possible mutual cooperation between the two law enforcement agencies. There was a particular emphasis on enhancing exchange of information on criminal matters and for improving structural coordination in combating transnational crimes.

(SUBHEAD)Both the agencies recognized the need to focus on emerging technology based challenges to law enforcement, closer cooperation in solving transnational cybercrimes, facilitating access to service providers offering encrypted communication applications and the need to share information to prevent
criminals taking advantage of operating from/finding shelter in different countries.

The Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Director, FBI encouraged greater formal as well as informal channels of inter-se communication, experience and resource sharing in investigation of complex technology enabled crimes.

The two Chiefs alsoexpressed their satisfaction as the present state of their relationship which have yielded several positive results in the last one year and discussed ways and means of taking it forward in a collaborative manner.

The FBI Director, Mr. Christopher A Wray, while interacting with senior officers of Delhi Police, thanked them for hosting the FBI delegation and expressed that this visit will lead to qualitatively enhanced relationship in the future. On his part, the Delhi Police Chief thanked Director, FBI for sparing time to visit the HQ of one of the largest metropolitan police forces’ of the world and assured him of continuing
cooperation in all matters of criminal investigation, areas of mutual concern and relationship building in the days to come.
