It was a difficult day for the passengers traveling on Jammu Tawi- Bhagat ki Kothi Express (19226) as they remained stranded for more than six hours at Kasubegu railway station following a hoax bomb call. The hoax caller was later nabbed by the West Bengal police following information shared by the Ferozepur police from South 24 Pargana district of the West Bengal.

Saumya Mishra SSP said that today morning; the police control room had received information from Railways regarding a telephone call in which the unknown caller informed that there was a bomb onboard Jammu Tawi- Bhagat ki Kothi Express. The SSP said that the train was made to halt at Kasubegu Railway station at 7.42 am, around 10 kms away from Ferozepur.

(SUBHEAD)“The entire area around that railway station was cordoned off and the passengers were de- boarded and evacuated outside the station before launching the search operation. Later, the police pressed four teams of dog squad into service. The GRP, RPF and BSF sleuths carried out the Anti Sabotage Operation. Even the police teams from neighbouring districts including Moga and Faridkot were also called for the search operation and bomb squads were also called to help in search operation besides ambulance and fire brigades were also placed”, said SSP Mishra.

Due to the extensive operation, the train remained halted for almost six hours at Kasu Begu railway station and finally departed at 1.55 pm after the security clearance from various security agencies. Meanwhile, the villagers with help of NGOs and police served tea and langar to the passengers who had to bear the brunt since 8 am in the morning.

Meanwhile, the hoax caller was traced down to West Bengal and arrested by the West Bengal police from South Pargana district whose interrogation is going on, revealed police officials.
