MAJOR GENERAL JAGDEEP SINGH CHEEMA TAKES OVER AS NEW COMMANDER NCC DIRECTORATE PUNJAB, HARYANA, HIMACHAL PRADESH & CHANDIGARH

Major General Jagdeep Singh Cheema has assumed the charge as 13th Additional Director General ADG) of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh (PHHP&C).

Bringing with his 36 years of distinguished service, as the new Commander, Maj Gen Cheema will oversee the NCC Directorate PHHP&C, which comprises eight Group HQ located in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh. The Directorate covers 56 districts, imparting training to approximately 1.5 lakh cadets in 2000 colleges and schools, focusing on overall youth development and molding future leaders.

(SUBHEAD)Maj Gen Cheema is a qualified instructor, having taught at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. His academic qualifications include two M.Phil degrees and a PhD from Punjab University for research on “Critical Appraisal of Joint Warfighting Capabilities of Indian Armed Forces”.

As an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, and commissioned into 223 Medium Regiment in 1988, Maj Gen Cheema has held prestigious command and staff assignments, including UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea, and served as Defence Attache in the High Commission of India in Bangladesh.

During his Command appointments, he served in the Command of 223 Medium Regiment, Artillery Brigade in Baramulla and General Officer in Command of Artillery Division as part of Mountain Strike Corps (West). He also served as GSO1 in Army HQ, Col Q in Divisional HQ, Col A in Corps HQ, Brig OL and MG Arty in Command HQ in his Staff Appointments.
