A PCR call regarding fire in Jhuggi on Manglam Road was received at 2:42 am on Tuesday in PS Anand Vihar. Four casual labourers of IGL company resided in temporary tent on DDA plot near Nala and besides Rotary Club office.
In night at 11 pm labourers Jaggi r/o Banda , UP age 30 yrs , Shyam Singh s/o Rampal aged 40 yrs r/o Auraiya, UP, Kanta Prasad s/o Rampal aged 37 yrs r/o Auraiyq , UP and Nitin s/o Kailash Singh aged 32 yrs r/o Vijay Nagar Ghaziabad , UP slept in the said tent. They used to keep a Dibiya of Diesel on cooler stand to lit the tent. They used to put lock on temporary gate of tent.
Nitin singh survied, stated that at 2 am Shyam Singh noticed fire in the tent and asked him to awake. Shyam Singh tried to open the lock to escape from tent but could not succeed. Nitin Singh managed to escape from tent, and others failed to escape and trapped in fire. Jaggi , Shyam Singh, and Kanta got burnt and died. Nitin Singh got injured in his leg and minor flame injury. One gas cylinder also burst in the fire.
Fire tenders dowsed the fire. Spot has been inspected by the fire brigade, Crime team, and FSL team. Bodies of deceased have been shifted to mortuary for autopsy. Statement of Nitin Singh, other labour Jeetnder and Rampal ( father of deceased Kanta and Shyam Singh) have been recorded.
