On the sidelines of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) final in Mumbai, UT Cricket Association (UTCA)’s President Sanjay Tandon and Secretary Devender Sharma met BCCI Secretary Devajit Saika to discuss key initiatives aimed at strengthening grassroots cricket in Chandigarh and the northern region by presenting him a coffee table book on Gully Cricket Tournament.

Tandon briefed him on the journey in promoting cricket at the grassroots level and its efforts in addressing drug abuse among youth through sports engagement. The book serves as a case study showcasing UTCA’s initiatives in nurturing young cricketing talent and fostering a positive sports culture.

Tandon also extended an official invitation to BCCI officials for either the opening and closing ceremonies of the upcoming Gully Cricket Tournament scheduled for April and May 2025.

Tandon also advocated for the establishment of a National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Chandigarh, emphasizing its potential to cater to the growing cricketing talent in the upper northern states. He highlighted the city’s strategic location and existing cricket infrastructure, making it an ideal hub for high-performance training and talent scouting.
