WOMEN WELFARE SOCIETY PREPARES 1,000 SPECIAL RAKHIS FOR BRAVE SOLDIERS

The Women Welfare Society of Fazilka is preparing 1,100 special Rakhis to honor the soldiers standing guard at the border day and night. The Rakhis will be dedicated to the brave soldiers on August 23 during an event titled “Rakhi Sarhad Ke Naam—Rashtar Raksha Ka Samman, Behno Ka Abhiman”.

Sharing details, Karan Gilhotra said that the event will be held at the Asafwala Martyrs’ Memorial at 9:30 AM. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria will be the chief guest. Preparations for the program are in the final stages.

Urging city residents to participate, he noted that the society’s female members are busy crafting the Rakhis with great enthusiasm and patriotism. He emphasized that these are not merely Rakhis, but symbols of the affection, respect, and gratitude that sisters feel for the soldiers deployed at the nation’s borders.

Sujata Narang, President of the Society, said that the 1,100 Rakhis would adorn the wrists of soldiers who are defending the country’s borders even under harsh conditions. She said, “From sub-zero temperatures to scorching heat, soldiers stand tall and steadfast at the border. It is because of them that we are safe in our homes and can breathe easy. Through these Rakhis, the society wishes to convey the love and respect of the nation’s citizens to the soldiers.”

Society members said that dedicating Rakhis to the nation’s protectors at a sacred site like the Asafwala Martyrs’ Memorial would be a moment of pride and deep emotion for them.
