SHORTAGE OF CURRENCY IN STATE BANK CHEST, CASE REGISTERED AGAINST BANK OFFICIALS

During the examination by RBI from 8/7/2016 to 15/7/2016, they found shortage/forged notes of Rate 5,71,000/- as advised by RBI. After that RBI officials conducted surprise inspection on 14.07.2016 and they found shortage of notes Rate 1,10,500/- in currency chest. 

Sector 17  Police station reported to have registered case against Bank officials of State Bank of India, Treausry Branch. Chandigarh on shortage of currency in the Bank Chest. Sh. Joginder Kumar, Chief Manager, State Bank of India, SCO No. 1-2-3-4, Treasury Branch, Sector 17, Chandigarh against bank officials of Treasury Branch, Sector 17, Chandigarh who reported that pursuance of RBI communication dated 30.03.2016 asking the branch to send non issuable currency notes RBI, Chandigarh on 12.04.2016.

A case FIR No. 80, U/S 409 IPC has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.
