CHANDIGARH CRIME BRANCH POLICE NABBED ACCUSED FROM MAHARASHTRA , VEHICLE AMOUNTING TWO CRORES RECOVERED

In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch under the supervision of Inspector Ranjit Singh and Inspector Sher Singh, Crime Branch and close guidance of Sh. Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, DANIPS, DSP Crime succeeded in arresting two stolen vehicle disposer accused namely Asif Noor Mohammad Sayed and Prabhjot Singh and recovered total 18 stolen vehicles from their possession i.e., 16 four wheeler and 02 two wheeler vehicles total amount worth Rs. 2 Crores approximately. 

Acting upon a secret information, a team of Crime Branch under the close supervision of SI Ashok Kumar arrested one accused namely Asif Noor Mohammad Sayed s/o Noor Mohammad Sayed r/o Dayes Plot Salisbari Park road Opp. Indian Medical Dayas Plot Gultekadi Pune City, Maharasthra, age-41 yrs on 19.01.2020 who is an active member of Inter-state Vehicle Lifter Gang are active in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Maharasthra who used to steal the vehicles and dispose them of after tampering the Engine and Chassis Number.

 

After, his arrest, he was produced before Hon’ble District Court, UT, Chandigarh on 20.01.2020 in case FIR No. 318 dated 29.12.2019 u/s 379, 411 IPC, PS-34, Chandigarh and got obtained 08 days police remand. During remand, one Honda City vehicle which was theft in the above mentioned case recovered on the instance of accused Asif Noor Mohammad Sayed from Amritsar, Punjab. On 21.01.2020, his accomplice namely Parphjot Singh has also been arrested from Amritsar on his disclosure that he is also involved in vehicle theft activities. With the arrest of both the accused, the following 18 stolen vehicles have been recovered on the instance of them:-

In addition to the above vehicles, the below mention stolen vehicles have been taken into police possession u/s 102 CrPC (02 Fortuner, 03 Innovas, 03 Honda City (02 in two cases and one in 102 CrPC), 02 Creta, 02 Verna, 01 Pajero, 01 Swift Dezire, 01 Boleno and 01 Alto which recovered on the instance of both the arrested accused.

Modus Operandi

Both the arrested accused are the member of a gang in which, accused Asif use to purchase the total loss accidental vehicle from Insurance Companies alongwith the original documents. Asif has its own Godown, in Pune, Maharasthra for the purpose of parking the accidental / total loss vehicles.

The gang members sold the parts of total loss vehicle to auto scrap dealers and destroy the engine parts. Further, as per the documents of total loss vehicle, the kingpin of this gang Rajesh @ Raja of Ludhiana lifted the same make vehicles through other gang members from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Maharashtra.

After that he parked the same vehicles in his Godown situated at Ludhiana, Punjab. After receiving the stolen vehicle, Rajesh @ Raja tampered the Chassis and Engine Numbers of vehicles as per the original documents provided by accused Asif of total loss vehicles. After tampering the Chassis Number and Engine of stolen vehicles, accused Rajesh @ Raja handed over the same vehicles to Asif and Prabhjot Singh car dealer and other dealers as well as gullible people at the prevailing rates of the said vehicles in market in Punjab and Maharashtra.

Accused Prabhjot is working as Car Dealer in Batala and Amritsar.

Accused Asif and Prabhjot Singh have already been arrested by Pune and Amritsar Police in similar offences.  Accused Rajesh Kumar @ Raja has also been arrested by Haryana, Punjab Police and declared Proclaimed Offender (PO) from the courts of Haryana and Punjab.

Accused profile: Asif Noor Mohammad Sayed  (41) S/o Noor Mohammad Sayed, presently living Dayes Plot Salisbari Park road Opp. Indian Medical Dayas Plot Gultekadi Pune City, Maharasthra. Occupation Sale/purchase of vehices. He studied upto 7th Class.l

Accused Prabhjot Singh (37) S/o Kulwant Singh, Dharowali, Tehsil Batala, District-Gurdaspur, Punjab., is also a car Dealer and studied upto 0+2

Accused Prabhjot Singh has already been sent to judicial custody.  Further, raids will be conducted to arrest the Rajesh Kumar @ Raja and other associates of vehicle theft cases. Further investigation is in progress.
