MOHALI DISTT.ADMINISTRATION GOES STRICT ON CURFEW VIOLATORS, HOCKEY STADIUM CONVERTED INTO TEMPORARY JAIL

Going strict against those violating the curfew imposed owing to corona virus, the District Administration has converted the hockey stadium in Phase - 9 into a temporary jail. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan said that the stadium has been converted into temporary jail till the prohibitory orders remain in force.

He also said that the main reason behind the move is to ensure that the COVID-19 is effectively contained and stopped from spreading. In Mohali sub division, nakas were put up at Franco hotel, Amrit confectionary light point, Sohana chowk and phase - 8,9 lights.

Divulging more details, he said that in the District, since 23rd March, 2020 till 5th April, a total of 289 FIRs were registered with 391 persons being arrested and 410 vehicles being impounded.

DC ORDERS GUARDIANS OF GOVERNANCE TO ACTIVELY ASSIST DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION IN IMPLEMENTING CURFEW PROVISIONS: The Guardians of Governance (GoG) would render their services to the District Administration in order to ensure that there are no difficulties in implementing the provisions of curfew imposed owing to corona virus. This was disclosed here today by the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan.

He also said that the GoGs would perform various functions including making sure that the social distancing guidelines are observed in the banks during the public dealing time. They would also coordinate with the District Lead Bank Manager and concerned elected representatives. Besides, the GoGs would also keep strict eye on those people who are undergoing home quarantine and ensure that they complete the home quarantine period. They would coordinate with the SDMs, local police and elected representatives and submit daily report to the concerned SDM.

As the wheat procurement season is about to begin, the GoGs would ensure that the farmers and labourers don't face any problem besides observing social distancing guidelines.

SPECIAL SAFEGUARDS BY DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION THIS YEAR FOR WHEAT PROCUREMENT SEASON OWING TO CORONA VIRUS:  This District Administration this year is ensuring that special safeguards are being put in place to ensure that there is minimal risk of transmission of infection during the Rabi procurement season. The government is increasing the number of Mandis to more than double the existing strength in order to to spread out the arrival of wheat. These steps are being taken to contain the spread of corona virus disease.

In a press communique here on Monday, an official spokesman said that In addition, the farmers will be issued special passes indicating the date on which they shall be entitled to to carry their produce to the Mandi. Social distancing norms shall be strictly followed in the Mandis by the labour as well as the government staff. Special steps are being taken to to provide masks, sanitizers, soaps in all the Mandis.

An elaborate security system is being put in place to ensure that farmers come to the Mandis on the appointed dates only. Combine Harvesters shall be allowed to operate only from 6 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. payment shall be released to the farmers through the Arhtiyas within 48 hours of purchase.The government shall ensure purchase of every grain of the farmer. The Government will ensure regular spray of disinfectants in the Mandi yards and also in toilets and drinking facilities at regular intervals.
FOUR MORE CORONA VIRUS POSITIVE CASES REPORTED IN DISTRICT, 4 PATIENTS CURED, SENT HOME,IN COMPLIANCE WITH ORDERS OF DC, PRIVATE HOSPITAL CHARGED ONLY FOR CONSUMABLE ITEMS: The District on Monday saw four corona virus positive cases emerging. But, in another five cases, the report has come out negative.

One positive case is from Sector-68 in which the 29 year old son of a person has been found positive. The father of the youth had recently attended a religious congregation in Delhi. The other three cases are from village Jawaharpur in which the father aged 67, wife aged 43 and brother aged 38 of the Panch of the village tested positive. The Panch had earlier tested positive.

However, 4 more people returned to their homes after being found negative. One is a male resident of Sector - 69 named Amandeep Singh, the other two are sisters belonging to Phase 3A aged 69 Kulwant Kaur and 74 Gurdev Kaur while the fourth one is an 80 year old woman named Resham Lauren who was admitted at a private hospital and was charged only for consumable items such as syringes as per the orders of the Deputy Commissioner.

As regarding the position of cases under quarantine, a total of 1458 cases are placed under home quarantine. Out of these, in respect of 301 cases, the period of quarantine is still continuing while with regard to 1157 cases, the quarantine period is over.

The containment protocol is being strictly followed and the District Administration is ensuring that Sanitization is being done at regular intervals.
