GANG OF LADY THIEVES BUSTED INSIDE RUNNING METRO: FIVE WOMEN NABS AND SENT TO JAIL

ACTION INITIATED ON THE COMPLAINT OF A WOMAN PASSENGER WHO REPORTED THEFT OF HER PURSE CONTAINING RS. 50,000/- CASH AND PAN CARD IN RUNNING METRO TRAIN BETWEEN RAJIV CHOWK AND RAJENDER PLACE METRO STATION. • THE GANG WOULD TARGET UNSUSPECTING WOMEN TRAVELLING BY METRO TRAIN AND GET AWAY WITH THEIR BAGS AFTER DIVERTING THEIR ATTENTION.THE ARRESTED ACCUSED WOULD EVEN USE THEIR INFANTS TO PICK QUARREL WITH FELLOW WOMEN TRAVELLERS AND GAIN SYMPATHY IN ORDER TO DIVERT THEIR ATTENTION FOR STEALING THEIR PURSE ETC.

Continuing the drive against incidents of theft committed at Metro stations and inside running metro trains, a dedicated police team of Police Station Raja Garden Metro comprising of SI Sher Singh, SI Satbir, ASI Rajbeer, HCs Gulshan & Ranbeer, W/HCs Lalita, Rekha, Suninda, Roshni, Sunita & Jyoti under the close supervision of Inspr. Pawan Tomar, SHO/Raja Garden Metro and guidance of Shri Dhirender Nath Sharma, ACP/North Metro busted a gang of lady thieves with the arrest of five accused persons and recovered stolen Rs. 44,900/- and one PAN card of complainant.

INCIDENT: On 09.04.2024, one woman reported to the police that while she was travelling by Metro Train on blue line between Rajiv Chowk Metro Station and Rajender Place Metro station, her purse containing Rs. 50,000/- cash and her PAN card was stolen by some unknown persons. The complainant lodged an E-FIR vide No. 80036869/2024 U/S 379 IPC, PS Raja Garden Metro, regarding this incident.

OPERATION: After registration of case, police team of PS Raja Garden Metro kickstarted the investigation and above police mentioned team swung into action. The team scanned the CCTV cameras of Rajiv Chowk Metro station and tracked the movement of complainant till she boarded the Metro train on blue line towards Rajender Place. Thereafter the CCTV footage of Metro bogey was checked and it was apparent that five ladies surrounded the complainant from all sides in crowd. Surprisingly, two of them were carrying infants in their laps and both were trying to divert the attention of complainant.

Mr. K P S Malhotram Dy. Commissioner of Police Metro, said, accused women identified as residents of Anand Vihar , New Delhi and involved previous in many cases of theft. urther investigation of the case is in progress and efforts are being made to find out if arrested accused persons are involved in other reported cases of similar nature. The police team of PS Raja Garden Metro is being suitably rewarded.

Meanwhile, other ladies, stealthily picked small purse from her handbag and all of them vanished from compartment at very next Metro station R K Ashram Marg.

The police team then followed their movements at R K Ashram Marg where they were seen exiting from the station and boarding in auto. Thereafter, the police team searched that auto and it was revealed that all accused deboarded from auto near Fareedpuri Transit Camp Jhuggies, Anand Parbat. The team then started searching the accused ladies through informers. Sustained efforts of police team bore fruits and finally all the accused ladies were nabbed on the basis of secret information from Connaught Place area in the morning of 10.04.2024 when they were moving towards Metro station Rajiv Chowk.

All the accused persons were arrested in the case and were thoroughly interrogated. Cash Rs. 44,900/-, PAN card and lady purse were recovered at the instance of all accused persons during investigation.

MODUS OPERANDI: During investigation, the arrested ladies disclosed that all of them joined together to operate in group with common intention to commit theft at crowded Metro stations. Two amongst them would even carry infants in lap to diver attention or to pick quarrel from fellow passengers on the pretext of raising false allegations of elbowing their infants in the crowd. Due to infants in lap, they would also gain sympathy in case they are caught stealing by fellow passengers. Each of the accused persons has specified role in the group and all of them operate in unison. The accused would mainly target unsuspecting women travellers. All the arrested accused persons were already found involved in several cases of theft inside Metro trains.
