QUESTIONS GOVT OVER ILL-TIMED AND BOTCHED OPERATION WHEN G20 LEADERS ARE VISITING AMRITSAR

(MOREPIC1)  Face2News/Chandigarh

Raising tough questions over timing and planning of what he termed as “ill-timed, ill-conceived and botched up” police operation to arrest Amritpal, former Member Parliament (MP) and Senior BJP leader Sunil Jakhar on Sunday tore into Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for defaming Punjab on global stage by providing separatist voices an international audience at a time when G 20 delegates were visiting Amritsar.

The sky would have not fallen had the government waited two more days for the G 20 leaders to leave the city especially when the government had been a passive spectator since February 23 Ajnala incident, Jakhar said.

Police should have been allowed to act freely and this charlatan should have been taken to task at Ajnala only, Jakhar said pointing out that it was the state government which also took refuge behind pious name of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to justify its gross inaction against mobsters who were misguided by this so called preacher Amritpal.(SUBHEAD)

All respect and regard must have been given to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which Amritpal's supporters had brought into the Police Station, but at the same time Police should have been allowed to act and this criminal should not have been allowed to leave the police station and should have been put behind bars, Jakhar added.

The excessive show of force in trying to nab him now by government has only added to the hype created around this man. He is a small time hooligan and the police should have been allowed to deal with him as such. Inept handling of the situation by government has provided the separatist agenda an international audience, Jakhar said further.

The government was worried over shameful embarrassment from interviews of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi which have severely undermined the authority of our state police. Jakhar said that the timing of police action chosen by the government was also an attempt to negate negative political fallout of these interviews as well as Moosewala's death anniversary gathering.

Outrightly rejecting any suggestion of this operation being pre-planned, Jakhar said the people of Punjab and nation would never forgive this AAP regime for defaming Punjab on the global stage.
