Keeping in view the zero tolerance policy against corruption adopted by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its anti-bribery campaign registered a corruption case against Tejpal Singh, Panchayat Secretary, posted in the office of the Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Moga for taking bribe or Rs 5000.

Giving this information here today, a spokesman of Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) said this case has been registered against the accused Panchayat Secretary after investigating an online complaint lodged by Sandeep Singh of village Chuharchak, district Moga on the Vigilance Bureau helpline number.

The complainant, in his plaint lodged with the Bureau, alleged that he had made an application to DDPO Moga for reconstruction of a street in his village, after which the said Panchayat Secretary asked him to pay a bribe of Rs 5000 to help him in this work.

In this regard the VB conducted through probe on the basis of the documents received, and has registered a bribery case against the Panchayat Secretary under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station Firozpur. Further investigation is under progress.
