Sriganganagar police arrested six persons for firing at the residence of colonizer Satish Kathuria alias Raju Kathuria as Kathuria did not pay Rs 2 crore extortion money. The arrested individuals were in contact with Kartik Jakhar.

Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said that Ishant Godara of Tarmala village in Muktsar, Pradeep Singh alias Deepa, Harsh Bishnoi of village Chamarkhera, Kuldeep alias Sethi and Kapil both of village Fatuhi and Shubham Khichad of Fatehabad were arrested for firing at Kathuria's house. The police arrested these miscreants after analyzing 800 footage of CCTV cameras installed in Satish Kathuria's house and other places.

(SUBHEAD)The SP said that the miscreants were constantly in touch with Kartik Jakhar through technical means. To scare and threaten Kathuria, two live cartridges and a threatening letter were left at the gate of his house on the night of March 24. A ransom of Rs 2 crores was demanded from him. On receiving the live cartridges and the threatening letter, a case was registered against unknown people in Jawaharnagar police station on the next day.

The police had also arrested four youths then, but the notorious miscreants with whom these youths were in contact were not caught. On not receiving the extortion money, firing was done at Kathuria's house on the night of May 27. Bullets hit the outer wall of the house. When Kathuria and the neighbors woke up in the morning and saw the bullet marks on the wall, they informed the police. Police also found two empty cartridges at the crime scene.
