In the inaugural session of the National Media Conference & Retreat, hosted by the Brahma Kumaris at Gyan Sarovar in Mt. Abu, Chief Guest Subhash Barala, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from Haryana, appealed to the media to step forward and provide positive direction, rather than propagating fear and mistrust, noting that a truly enlightened media has the power to wake up the world.
Prominent media voices echoed this call for reform. Prof. (Dr.) Mansingh Parmar, Ex-V.C., Kushabhau Thakre University of JMC, Tanya Patnaik, Editor of The Samvad & Kanak TV, Manish Bajpai, Consulting Editor, DD News and others.
Naresh Kaushal, Editor, Dainik Tribune, Chandigarh emphasized that the media must act as marg darshak (guide) rather than mere mirrors of society’s struggles. He said that the world is currently passing through a phase of unprecedented unrest. In such circumstances, a constructive role played by the media is the need of the hour. When we speak of peace, the concept of peace within the family takes precedence. Through spiritual contemplation, the Brahma Kumaris organization is working towards the betterment of the world. In this institution of yours, there is not merely a 35 or 50 percent reservation for ‘Nari Shakti’ (women’s power), but rather a full 100 percent reservation. Women also occupy prominent positions within The Tribune Group of Newspapers.
B.K. Mohini Didi, Chief Administrative Head, asserted that global and community progress is impossible without foundational peace, which begins in the individual mind. The session was presided by B.K. Karuna, Secretary General of the Brahma Kumaris. A book “Seedhi baat, shayari ke saath” by Rajesh Rajore, Editor of Dainik Deshonnati was released.
