VANI SHARMA WINS THREE TITLES IN THE 5TH CHANDIGARH HOT WEATHER TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The 5th Chandigarh Hot Weather Table Tennis Tournament was held at the Table Tennis Hall in Sector 23, Chandigarh, where Chandigarh’s Vani Sharma delivered an outstanding performance by winning three titles in the Women’s Singles, Under-19 Girls Singles, and Under-17 Girls Singles categories. Her remarkable achievement was widely appreciated by players, coaches, and sports enthusiasts, who hailed her as a “Shining Star.”

According to the declared results, in the Men’s Singles final, Chandigarh’s Vadya Chawla defeated fellow city player Pritish Sood 4-2 in an exciting contest to clinch the title.

In the Women’s Singles category, Chandigarh’s Vani Sharma defeated Varya Jain of New Delhi 4-3 in a closely fought match to win the championship.

In the Under-19 Boys Singles category, Chandigarh’s Pritish Sood defeated Rajveer Singh Bhatia of Amritsar 3-2 to claim the title. In the Under-19 Girls Singles category, Vani Sharma once again showcased her dominance by defeating New Delhi’s Varya Jain 4-2 to secure her second title of the tournament.

On the occasion, Atul Nanda (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India and President, Punjab Table Tennis Association), along with Pankaj Sharma (Senior Advisor, Punjab Table Tennis Association), Gagan Bari (Advisor), Sumit (Treasurer), Manish Bhardwaj (Table Tennis Coach, Punjab Sports Department), Manmeet Singh (Joint Secretary), and Ganesh Ahuja (International Table Tennis Player), distributed prizes to the winners and motivated them to excel in sports and life.

During the tournament, Atul Nanda personally interacted with the children and encouraged them to actively pursue sports. His wife, Rameeza Hakim, also attended the event and blessed the young players, further boosting their enthusiasm and inspiring them to stay committed to sports.

The tournament witnessed participation from approximately 350 players representing various states and districts, including Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Mansa, Barnala, Sangrur, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and several other regions. Participants displayed impressive sporting skills throughout the competition.

The three-day tournament was organized under the leadership of Competition Manager Kanav Khanna and Organizing Secretary Rahul Malhotra. Quarter-finalists were also honored with prizes, encouraging young players and enhancing their interest and respect for sports.

The tournament was organized in memory of Late R.S. Mehta and marked the fifth edition of the event. It is held annually at the Table Tennis Hall, Sector 23, Chandigarh.

The technical team also played a significant role in the success of the tournament. Kapil Kundra, Deepak Mehta, Jagdish Singh, Sahil Janveja, Rishabh Saini, Naksh Mehra, Pawan Janveja, Piyush Pujara, Anil Kumar, and Manpreet Singh made valuable contributions through their dedicated efforts, helping make the event a grand success.
